Bolton Wonderes 2-3 Liverpool: Gerrard is the hero
The visitors twice came from behind twice to clinch a vital victory at the Reebok Stadium.
Having lost two of their opening three Premier League games, Liverpool travelled to Bolton Wanderers in determined mood.
Manager Rafael Benitez, who earlier in the week had admitted a win at Bolton was crucial made two changes from the side that flopped at Aston Villa with new signing Sotirios Kyrgiakos making his debut and Albert Riera recalled.
Wanderers, meanwhile, also made two changes bringing in J Lloyd Samuel and Tamir Cohen as they went in search of their first points of the season.
