Chelsea 1-0 Portsmouth: Droga-Cech impressive

Aston Villa 0-3 Chelsea: Malouda, Lampard great-strike

Chelsea made it to the FA Cup final 3-0 over Aston Villa massacred in the semi-final, at Wembley Stadium, Saturday (10/4/2010). In the final, Chelsea will face the winner between Tottenham Hotspur Portsmouth cons, which will play on Sunday (11.4.2010).
The victory was quite a relief. Because, although appeared dominant, Chelsea really trouble breaking into the opposing goal.
In the first 15 minutes, for example, Chelsea simply appeared suppress his opponents, especially from the middle sector. At minute 10, for example, the movement almost brought Chelsea's Joe Cole leads. Unfortunately his shot was wide.

Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Fulham: Pavlyuchenko great finish

Playing in front of thousands of supporters, Tottenham Hotspur played off against Fulham in the FA Cup quarter-final on Wednesday (24 / 3/2010). Spurs get rid of Fulham with a 3-1 final result.
At the initial stage both teams attack each other with a tempo that was enough. But the surprise came from the visitors when his 17th minute, striker Bobby Zamora public surprise White Hart Lane after kick first time that he was using bait from Damien Duff managed to rip the goal Gomes. Stoke City 3-1 Manchester City: Two extra-time strikes

The Britannia crowd, when their blood is up, can resemble the mob of Madame Guillotine, and Roberto Mancini left the Potteries with choruses of "You're getting sacked in the morning" ringing in those so-sophisticated ears. The tumbril beaters were doubtless premature but the richest club in the country will not have enjoyed going out of the FA Cup to homespun Stoke and after barely two months in charge the Italian is already deemed to be "under pressure".
Mancini had called on his players to match their opponents' fighting spirit but it was Stoke who scored twice in extra-time to book a quarter-final trip to Chelsea on 7 March and Mancini's claims after the game that his team had "played very well and dictated for 80 minutes" will cut no ice with demanding employers who had so little patience with Mark Hughes.
The Mancunians had Emmanuel Adebayor sent off after 82 minutes for lashing out with an arm and catching Ryan Shawcross in the throat but that was no excuse for an embarrassing defeat which leaves them with only a top-four finish in the Premier League to play for in a season which began with such stratospheric hopes.
Stoke were second-best for an hour but opened the scoring through the substitute Dave Kitson after 79 minutes, then shrugged off Craig Bellamy's quick equaliser to settle the issue in the extra half-hour, with a headed goal from Shawcross and a coruscating gem from Tuncay.
The two sides came to the replay in contrasting form. Stoke's attritional football is not to everybody's taste but Tony Pulis has found a method that makes optimum use of limited resources and his team are unbeaten in 2010 - a run that stretches back 11 league and cup matches.
For Mancini, on the other hand, the honeymoon may not be over but it is certainly drawing to a close. After replacing Hughes in December he got off to a flying start, with six wins in his first seven games, but the next eight have produced only two victories and already there are murmurs of discontent with his training methods emanating from the dressing room. The fans were less than chuffed when English football's nouveau riche managed one point from two league fixtures against the paupers of Hull and were well beaten by two of their rivals for a top-four finish, Tottenham and Everton. They will be even more disgruntlednow.

The home crowd were still launching into their first rendition of "Delilah" when Adebayor had them gasping with a high-velocity 30-yarder which forced Thomas Sorensen to fly to his right to save. They held their breath again when a clever turn and sprint through the middle by Togo's favourite son unhinged their defence. Fortunately for Stoke, Adebayor's intelligent transference of the ball to Bellamy on his left was wasted by the Welshman's poor first touch. Stoke had their moments, too, but similar shortcomings in the penalty area caused a stalemate which was not broken until the 79th minute.
Then, like overdue buses, the goals came two together. First Kitson exchanged passes with Tuncay before driving past Shay Given, left-footed, from right to left. Then Bellamy beat Sorensen from 12 yards after Adebayor had knocked down Wayne Bridge's left-wing cross.
Into extra-time Stoke were ahead again within five minutes when Rory Delap's trademark long throw from the left was met at the near post by Shawcross, whose header flew past Given and in at the far side. Four minutes later Tuncay made the game safe with an outstanding piece of skill, swaying one way and then the other in a slalom past defenders before scoring with a crisp left-footed finish.

The prospect of reaching two Wembley finals in the same season remains alive for Aston Villa but their passage into the last eight of the FA Cup was nothing like as comfortable as Martin O'Neill would have wished. Darren Ambrose's second-half spot-kick threatened to take this fifth-round replay into extra-time before Matt Lawrence fouled John Carew twice in the last 10 minutes and invited the Norwegian to convert two penalties of his own.
Carew's seventh and eighth goals of a largely underwhelming season spared a strong Villa side another 30 minutes of football four days before Sunday's Carling Cup final against Manchester United at Wembley.
Relief was etched across O'Neill's face as the Northern Irishman celebrated reaching the FA Cup quarter-finals for the first time as a manager, with a trip to Reading on Sunday week the prize.
Villa ultimately deserved to go through but it was difficult not to feel sympathy for Crystal Palace. Neil Warnock's side were under siege for much of the first half but television replays showed that Martin Atkinson, the referee, should have awarded a goal-kick and not a corner in the lead-up to Gabriel Agbonlahor's headed opener. That Villa's late equaliser at Selhurst Park had arrived in similar circumstances, poured salt into the Palace wounds.
"As always these corners that are goal-kicks crop up, don't they?" Warnock said mischievously. "I knew that Nick Carle kicked it on to the player's left ankle and that it had gone out for a goal-kick. You could see from the halfway line where the fourth official was standing. I don't understand how referees can't see things like that. It's only a little thing but it's a goal. It does my head in at times."
The Palace manager was evasive about his future, refusing to deny speculation linking him with the Queens Park Rangers job. He maintained that he will travel to Doncaster on Friday for the Championship match the next day but is expected to step down shortly afterwards. His name was chanted before and during the game by the sizeable contingent of Palace supporters here and for a brief period it looked as though he might mastermind a Cup upset.
Stephen Warnock's lunge on Alan Lee presented Ambrose with the chance to register his 17th goal of the season at a time when Palace were growing in confidence. Lawrence, however, pressed the self-destruct button, tugging at Carew's shirt to give the forward the chance to level before later clattering into him from behind.
"I'm particularly pleased for the players. I didn't see anyone shirking anything at all before Sunday," O'Neill said. "And I think that speaks volumes for the team."
